Manuel Alonso, Managing Director of Biorig, will participate for the second consecutive year in an event that will address the challenges shaping the future of the energy sector and the development of renewable gases

Biorig, Solarig’s green gases division, will take part this Wednesday, 9 September, in the 11th elEconomista.es Energy Forum, one of the leading discussion forums on the present and future of Spain’s energy sector.

Manuel Alonso, Managing Director of Biorig, will participate in the forum for the second consecutive year as part of the third panel discussion, ‘Infrastructure and development of renewable gases: Biomethane and hydrogen’, which will bring together representatives from different companies and organisations linked to the sector.

Biorig’s participation will bring to the discussion the perspective of a company working to develop new solutions to advance the energy transition, as part of Solarig’s evolution towards a more diversified and industrial energy model. Alongside its established track record in the development of photovoltaic energy, Solarig has progressively expanded its activity into wind energy, battery energy storage and green gases, with Biorig as its platform specialising in the development and operation of biomethane plants.

In this new scenario, the energy transition requires a combination of different technologies and energy vectors to address challenges such as decarbonisation, industrial competitiveness and security of supply. Green gases, and particularly biomethane, can play an important role as a complement to renewable electricity, enabling organic resources to be used to produce a renewable molecule compatible with existing gas infrastructure.

The forum discussion will provide an opportunity to explore some of the key challenges involved in this transformation of the energy system from a broader perspective, including regulatory developments, new infrastructure, investment needs and the conditions required to accelerate the deployment of renewable gases and other energy technologies.

Biorig’s participation in the event will therefore help bring Solarig’s perspective to a vision of the energy system in which photovoltaics, wind, energy storage and green molecules do not compete with one another, but form part of the combination of technologies needed to move towards a more decarbonised, competitive and resilient economy.
