Solarig has had its climate targets validated internationally by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and has reaffirmed its commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2040
- The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), the leading international authority on the validation of science-based corporate climate targets, has validated Solarig’s short- and long-term emissions reduction targets, as well as its goal of achieving net-zero emissions across the entire value chain by 2040.
- The company is committed to reducing its absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 55% by 2030 and achieving a 90% reduction by 2040, using 2024 as the base year. Furthermore, Solarig is committed to reducing its Scope 3 emissions by 51.6% per euro of added value by 2030 and by 97% per euro of added value by 2040.
- The validation of these targets lends rigour to Solarig’s Transition Plan and consolidates its climate roadmap towards net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040, in line with climate science, the Paris Agreement and a trajectory compatible with limiting global warming to 1.5 °C.
Madrid, 3 June 2026.—Solarig has had its emissions reduction and net-zero targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), one of the leading international initiatives for assessing science-based corporate emissions reduction targets. The validation covers its short-term targets for 2030, its long-term targets for 2040 and its Net-Zero target of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the entire value chain by 2040.
The validation confirms that the company’s climate targets meet the criteria of the SBTi’s Net-Zero Standard and are based on climate science, in line with the Paris Agreement’s ambition to limit the global temperature rise to 1.5 °C above pre-industrial levels.
The Science Based Targets initiative is an international initiative launched by CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI) and WWF, which provides a rigorous scientific framework for companies to set emission reduction targets consistent with the climate scenarios defined by the scientific community.
Targets for 2030 and 2040
The SBTi has validated Solarig’s Net-Zero target of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its entire value chain by 2040. As short-term targets, the company is committed to reducing its absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 55% by 2030 compared to the 2024 baseline year, as well as reducing its Scope 3 emissions by 51.6% per euro of added value over the same period.
In the long term, Solarig is committed to achieving a 90% reduction in its absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions and a 97% reduction in its Scope 3 emissions per euro of added value by 2040, also using the base year 2024 as a reference.
