As part of his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to the energy transition, in 2005 he founded Solarig, a pioneering company in Spain, originally dedicated to investing in photovoltaic plants for the sale of electricity, which today is an organisation that offers sustainable energy solutions for society in 12 countries. Miguel Ángel Calleja is today Chairman and CEO of Solarig.

  • Education: PhD in Agricultural Engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid and Executive MBA from the Business Institute.
  • Experience: With more than 25 years of experience in the energy sector, he began his professional career developing water supply and treatment projects at Ondagua. At Iberdrola he participated in electricity generation projects in several Latin American countries and he has been responsible for the Climate Change and Environment areas of the company, defining the area of emissions trade, sustainability indexes and implementation of environmental management policies and systems. In 2005, he joined Solarig where he has led international growth in countries such as Italy, the UK and Japan, digital transformation and ESG (Environment, Social & Government) sustainability strategy. He is currently General Manager of Corporate Services.

Manuel Alonso Lafuente

  • Education: Forestry Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. Master’s Degree in Environmental Management from the University of Malaga.
  • Experience: He has more than 20 years of experience in national and international markets in the wood and agriculture sector, as well as in the generation of electricity and heat from biomass and gas. He has developed his professional activity occupying different positions of responsibility in the company specialised in wood Losan. He has led the development, implementation and operation of different production centres in countries such as the Netherlands, Romania and the United States. He is an expert in intensive and irrigated industrial agriculture through his extensive experience in the management and operation of large agricultural and forage farms in Central Europe. In 2023 he joins Solarig as Managing Director of the Green Gases division. Through Biorig, he aims to position the organisation as a national and international benchmark in the development and operation of biomethane plants; and in the modular capture of biogenic CO₂.

Raquel Bonafonte Gómez

  • Experience: Throughout her career she has led operations on five continents in multicultural environments in the energy sector. She has extensive experience in corporate finance, M&A, financial models, control and audit and strategic planning. She has served as Chief Financial Officer and advisor in different companies in the renewable energy sector such as FRV, RP Global or Cogen Energía. Prior to joining Solarig, she held the position of Chief Financial Officer at Capital Energy. In 2022 she joined Solarig to lead the world-wide corporate economic and financial operations.

Francisco Díez Quiralte

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management from the Pontifical University of Comillas (ICADE), Madrid. He has supplemented his education with specialist programmes in finance, investment and decision-making at institutions such as the Yale School of Management and the IEB.
  • Experience:

    He has built a solid international track record in the development of photovoltaic, wind and battery projects, as well as in the management of business units and multicultural teams within the energy sector. Previously, he held the position of Global Head of Business Development at Zelestra (EQT Group), leading initiatives in global development, organic growth and international transactions. He has also held positions as General Manager and Regional Head of Business Development for Latin America at Recurrent Energy (Canadian Solar Group), focusing on strategy, organisational growth, team leadership and transaction execution. In 2026, he joined Solarig as Chief Development Officer, where he leads global development activities, the integration of new technologies and the promotion of storage and flexibility solutions (BESS).

Eduardo García Poza

  • Experience: He has developed his professional career in management positions in industrial areas in leading companies in the construction and engineering sector such as Grupo San José, Aldesa and Grupo Ortiz, linked to renewable energy generation and electrical interconnection facilities. Prior to joining Solarig he held the position of Contracting Director within the energy area of Grupo Ortiz, managing the contracting of EPC of new renewable energy projects (mainly photovoltaic) as well as electrical interconnection facilities in public and private tenders both nationally and internationally. After more than 6 years in Grupo Ortiz he joined Solarig in 2021 to lead the EPC business line.

  • Experience: His professional career has been linked since 1995 to large companies in the services sector where he began leading activities related to the management of public concessions for water supply and treatment in Ondagua. Subsequently, he held various management positions in the infrastructure company Ferrovial, leading the area of urban services for cities, such as the collection and treatment of solid urban waste and street cleaning. In 2008 he joined Solarig as Director of Operation and Maintenance (O&M), an area from where he has led the development of energy services to third parties to position Solarig as a benchmark company in the international arena.

  • Experience: With more than ten years of professional experience, he has developed his career in the field of corporate, transactional and financial law, specialising mainly in M&A transactions and project development in the energy and infrastructure sectors. He has worked at leading international firms such as Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer, where he has advised investment funds, energy and infrastructure corporations, investment banks and public entities on major transactions. His experience also includes legal advisory roles in board secretariats at national and international companies, providing a global strategic vision of business and corporate governance and compliance matters.

Before joining Solarig, she built her career in talent consultancy specialising in the energy and infrastructure sectors, participating in talent management and recruitment projects for leading companies such as Repsol. During her more than four years at Solarig, she has held various senior roles, including HR Business Partner and Talent Acquisition Director, contributing to the growth and development of the organisation.

Cecilia Carballo

Diploma in Development Policy in the EU and Expert in Evaluation of Development Programmes and Policies. She has also completed the ESADE Business School programme on Management of Non-Profit Organisations.
  • Experience: Political scientist with more than 25 years of experience working in environment and development for public entities, companies and non-profit organisations. Prior to joining Solarig, she held the position of Director of Sustainability at Prodigioso Volcán. She has also been Director of Programmes and Strategy at Greenpeace; Vice-President of Alianza por la Solidaridad; Executive Director of IPADE; evaluator of the Global Fund for the achievement of the Millennium Goals at the United Nations; President of the EQUO Foundation, of the Observatory of Corporate Social Responsibility; and advisor to the Rivas Vaciamadrid City Council and the Zahoz Network on issues of sustainable economy and green employment. She has combined her professional practice with teaching in different postgraduate courses in Spanish universities (Complutense de Madrid, Pontificia de Comillas, Autónoma de Madrid, Nacional de educación a distancia, among others). She is currently a member of various advisory boards and is a trustee of the Mémora Foundation and a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Commission for Refugee Aid.

He started his career as a consultant in several Italian and Spanish companies such as Real Time Service, Lamda Gestión and Accenture. Since 2000 he has worked as CIO in companies in various sectors, such as Volvo Spain, Dominion, Henry Schein and phs Serkonten, being responsible for international projects and digital transformation, data, cybersecurity and business. In 2024 he joined Solarig as CIO and CISO.
